Ending Local Hunger
It starts locally and everyone can help. Starvation is happening right in front of your eyes, let’s work together and beat hunger!
The Backpack Assistance Program, LLC (BAP) is a non-profit organization that focuses on raising the awareness of food insecurity in Whitefish, Montana. Started by the Whitefish Community Foundation, Members of The Wave and Montana Food Bank as the Backpack Program in 2012, the Backpack Assistance Program focuses on assisting the Backpack Program by providing fresh fruits and vegetables along with the volunteers to pass out food at local schools. Our mission is to help the children in our community enjoy healthy options during the weekend and school closure days.
A pool of volunteers purchases a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables each Friday to place in the children’s backpacks along with food provided by the Wave and distributed through the Montana Food Bank Network.
By contributing to this program, you are supporting healthy eating habits for the children of our community, and with a community of helping hands and giving hearts, no child will be left hungry.
